WEEK 1: Living Out Your Faith At School
School can be a very busy--and often messy--place. There are so many different kinds of people, all with their own personalities and drama that can take your focus off of your faith and our eyes off of God. Everyone wants to be accepted, and some kids will do whatever it takes to be a part of the "in" crowd.
In a place as fast paced as school, how can we live out our Christian faith there?
There are many answers to that, but Jesus paints a clear picture of how your life can point others to God.
In the book of John we see that Jesus is having a conversation with his disciples and he is telling them that he will not be around for much longer. He leaves them with a new, simple command; love.
Your love of others, he says, will prove to people that you are my follower.
Living out your faith at school should be centered in love. This is what will show people that you are a follower of Christ.
You can demonstrate love by saying positive things about people, by not getting involved in bullying, by speaking to the kid that no one wants to talk to and by being respectful to our teachers...just to name a few examples.
What are some other ways you can demonstrate God's love at school?
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
