Souls. Soil. Cities. Seed.
“The kingdom of God is like this: Someone plants some seed in the ground. Then, both during the day and the night, whether that person is awake or asleep, the seed is growing silently. Now the person who planted the seed can’t see how it is growing (because it’s hidden under the ground). But in darkness, the soil is helping the seed grow. First the plant sprouts through. Then the tender stalk appears. Then the stalk puts on buds, and finally the full head of grain or fruit appears. Then when it is ready and ripe, the farmer cuts it, because it’s harvest time!”
Mark 4:26-29 (NIV)
God expects growth in His children. Often, our supernatural growth can seem slow and gradual because it’s difficult to see it beneath the surface. God, who has sown the seed of the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ, into our lives, will be faithful to water, prune, and do the necessary work to ensure the conditions and environment are right for us to receive a harvest from the seeds He plants and sows in our lives. Here are ten laws of spiritual planting:
Everything Starts As A Seed. Whatever we sow, we reap.
A Seed Has No Power Until It’s Planted. We live in the harvest of the seeds we refuse to plant. We are encouraged to sow seeds.
Some Seed Should Be Planted Instead of Eaten. If we’re not careful, we’ll waste what we have. If what we have isn’t enough to harvest, then we must make it our seed. We are encouraged to sow seeds today that prepare us for tomorrow.
Whatever I Plant Is What I Will Harvest. Whatever we sow, we shall reap. We have more power than we think.
I’m Not The Only One Planting In My Life. While we are not the only ones who plant, we are responsible for stewarding our lives. We are the farmers, gardeners, and workers of our fields, and we’re responsible for the fruit we produce.
I Harvest In A Different Season Than I Plant. There is a time for everything.
I Always Harvest More Than I Plant. God is committed to the principle of seed, time, and harvest, even in seasons where we could not bear fruit because it was stolen, taken, or circumstances beyond our control spoiled the harvest. He will restore and give us double for our trouble.
I Can Increase My Harvest By Planting More Seed. As we plant more seeds, our harvest increases.
I Should Always Be Planting Good Seed. The best time to plant seed is right now, today; we must not wait until tomorrow.
While Waiting For My Harvest, I Must Be Patient And Never Give Up. We have more power than we think, and God has given us everything we need for righteousness in every season and circumstance. We have seeds of time, words, obedience, forgiveness, and faith.
Prayer: Lord, give us the courage to sow and plant seed, the patience to wait on you and your perfect timing, and the strength to reap the harvest your will has planned for us. Help us to grow naturally and supernaturally, even when our growth is gradual, slow, and unseen, as we apply your supernatural laws and principles of seed, soil, time, and harvest into our lives. Thank you for redeeming our soil through your righteous seed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
