Beyond Series, Part 3: H.O.P.E.
Here at City Church, God is calling us to expand our church. We are believing God for miracles to move the hearts of people around the city. Every single person here has talents and gifts and abilities to offer God! Everyone has something that God is going to ask them to do.
Beyond Series, Part 2
When God gives us a task, he also tests our hearts. When we find ourselves offended or in pain at his request, it’s a good sign that we need his healing. Just like a doctor who prods for pain and symptoms of a problem, God probes our hearts for hurts that need healing.
Going Beyond Together
We don’t need a building to see God move. God does not need a building to reveal his character and nature. But when God asks us to do something, it is the greatest privilege of our lives to do it.
Don't Rule God Out
When God is working and moving, we try to impose our systems of measurement onto God. We tend to measure ourselves out of miracles. We tend to measure ourselves out of blessings. We tend to measure ourselves out of God’s purpose. We tend to measure ourselves out of God’s plan.
Forgiveness
When Jesus describes the Kingdom of heaven to his disciples, he is explaining what it means to be a part of God’s family, to live in God’s house. Jesus is telling Peter that, at our house, we forgive. At our house, we do not hold grudges. We let things go.
Help Me Move
n this story in Mark, a father has a son who is tormented by an evil spirit. Jesus is trying to move this father from a place of unbelief to belief, and this son from oppression to freedom. Where is God trying to move you in your life? Often God moves us; other times we just need to make the first move.
Why Not Now?
Some of the best things in life happen when we take simple steps that are unplanned responses to unexpected opportunities that God gives us. Today we are giving everyone the opportunity to get baptized.
When the Heart Speaks
What you eat does not defile you, but what comes out of your mouth can. In Matthew 15:12, the elders of the church came to Jesus with a complaint about eating the wrong foods. Jesus says we should worry more about what comes out of our mouth than what goes into it.
